Project Scope
Constructed on over 3,800 sqm of land just 45 kilometres south of Brisbane’s CBD, the new Bahrs Scrub Childcare Centre is a purpose-built community facility designed to create a calm, engaging, and inspiring environment for early learning. Delivered as a Design & Construct (D&C) project, this modern 1,160 sqm childcare centre built by Checkpoint Constructions accommodates up to 150 children.
Set against a backdrop of natural bushland, this two-level facility includes nine individual learning rooms, each tailored to specific age groups from nursery through to kindergarten. Every aspect of the design supports play-based learning, collaboration, and development in a welcoming and functional setting.
The childcare centre features dedicated educational playrooms, a welcoming reception, administrative offices, staff rooms, and full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry amenities to support smooth daily operations.
Accessibility, quality, and safety were key priorities throughout the construction process. The development incorporates retaining walls, external ramps, and stairs to provide seamless movement across the site, along with ample on-site parking to ensure convenient and secure access for families.
Landscaping has been carefully considered to complement the natural environment, with terraced outdoor play areas and a natural playscape that encourage exploration, creativity, and physical activity. The result is a learning environment that feels both connected to nature and purpose-built for discovery.
